Egr Valve Blanking

Featured Replies

Hi there ! It's because it helps keep the cars emissions down by recirculating the exhausts gases through the engine again which is fine when brand new but when the egr valve gets coked up you start getting problems what car have you got ?

I have a 55 plate Ford Focus TDCI LX 1.8, i believe its the KKDA03 (115ps/85kW).

so can i assume that 'blanking' it off won't affect emissions? by that i mean, will it pass an MOT with the EGR blanked, or would i need to unblank it to get it through an MOT?

Diesels are not tested for emissions.

The MOT just checks for excessive smoke from the exhaust.

Something new I learned today always thought they were tested on emissions mine doesn't smoke any more than it used to I would recommend it car drives loads smoother and more responsive if you ask me :-)
