Performance Chips...

Featured Replies

So, my fiesta is a heap and it will be hard to sell due to high mileage so I am looking for ideas to make myself fall in love with the car all over again. It is a 56plate fiesta 1.4 TDCi.

Someone suggested to me to buy a performance chip for the wagon but looking at a few reviews it has been said that it may cause injector problems later on.

Has anybody actually had one?

Did they make a difference? (increase bhp, better mpg... you know)

& have/did the chip cause problems for your car?

Many thanks.. :D

TDCi wise, there are loads of tuning boxes you can install, one of my friends is running one on his corsa and he loves it, with a simply push of a button he can change the map from an eco which gives him around 50mpg+ to a race map which makes the car quick as but fuel is wasted down to around 25mpg after that, or there is a power eco setting which give him around 43mpg plus if he doesnt hammer it but also tunes the car nicely sor of 65 - 75% full power really compaired to the full race map, here is a link to the one he got for his and ill see if i can find one to match your fiesta, but you will have to tell your insurance company about them, and on a fiesta

they can hard to fit as they need to be connected to the fuel rail behind the engine but ill have a look for you

here you go two to choose from but a little pricey

do not get one off ebay they can be a total con

Try Superchips -

Not cheap but should have a bit more top end power than a tuning box, tuning boxes are ok, too, DTUK ones are good, or other "premium" digital ones

You should post some pics of your engine bay - does it have a fixed-vane turbo? intercooler? there may be some potential here, also, decat, EGR blanking plate, intake mods etc etc - the car can be transformed to aquick little thing, believe it or not, but you can end up spending more than the car is worth, and you would have been better just gettimg a quicker car

The 1.4s are nopelessly underpowered (IOM) but you get an exellent MPG - are you prepared to loose some of that MPG, and how much?
