Find That Creaking Sound!

Featured Replies

Everytime i turn corners. Not sure exactly what it is. Beginning and end of video are perfect for the sound.

That sounds like an ARB droplink gone bad, to me.

The balljoints on the ends dry out so instead of the joint moving smoothly, the ARB flexes, then snaps into its new position, causing this "creaking" sound when you turn the wheel. I'd probably change both sides because if one has gone, the other won't be far behind it.

That doesn't sound good. The car hasn't reached three years old just yet. Do you think it'll be covered by warranty? Cost?

Well, it might not even be that. But I know the sound as I had it myself.

I would have it in for them to take a look.

You guys know how loud this sound was. Turns out it's the trunk/boot lock! I stuck a thin piece of a t-shirt over the lock and closed it and never heard it again! This was after i removed the styrofoam recovery kit. Stuck it on top of the trunk cover and in the back seat and it was still doing it. My question now is PERMANENT Solution...!

Does it need tighting? Maybe some grease? The boot lock has like a black coating over it and as you rub your fingers over it you get this exact sound! Why it does it when turning corners is beyond me, it must move..

WTF? Lol!

Try putting a bit of insulating tape around it.

i puf duct tape around the latch until i can come up with a better solution. From googling it, it is a well known issue. Even my music couldn't block that sound out. Was driving me crazy!

I'll get to a diy store tomorrow and get some insulation tape.
