Help Needed Asap!!!!

Featured Replies

My car has been parked up most of the weekend and was fine until last night, is started to run rough and the exhaust sounded like it had a blow, so I had a look and it hasn't. It is also massively down on power it seems like there is no turbo and it is using water but I cant find a leak and it has no tell tale signs of water in the oil! The odd thing is no eml??!! Can anybody help please? Forgot to say its a 2002 130bhp tdci

Thanks in advance

Is there an injector loose mine once came loose sounded really rough and you could smell fumes in the car ?

No smell of fumes in the car at all, realy odd its just like driving a n/a diesel! Could a loose/damaged boost pipe cause this?

Yeah usually you hear a hissing noise and more smoke prone for the top hoses going but I have also blown an intercooler before good luck !!

Did u get eml on with that and was u loosing water?

If you're losing water too with no signs of it just leaking then it may be going into a cylinder which it will run rough, if this is the case it should be steaming excessively from the exhaust.

Engine management light did come on after a few weeks with the split boost pipe but it was a pretty big hole in the pipe that would affect water though buddy !

Im not getting any smoke or white smoke so dont think its the head gasket (fingers crossed) its a bit ropey first thing but only for a min or so, im hoping its just something like a faulty boost pipe or intercooler! Could the actuator cause this and if it is the intercooler would I loose water?

On my brothers 2.0 hdi his mas air flow sensor went and it basically was like turning the turbo off you could try disconnecting it to see if it starts to run ok but you will deffo need to replace it if it's that that's what the garage did and it ran well without

Turned out to be a vacuum return pipe for the actuator from the turbo! £60 later and iv got my boost back!:-)

Did you solve the coolant issue?

So, it causes water to disappear and no lights come on?

Does it overheat? that would explain the water loss, which is otherwise a bit mysterious.

Otherwise, a warped head, with water going into the cylinder rather than the oil would be possible, but unpleasant. Maybe, water in the oil is possible, but the water isn't giving you any of the obvious signs and is being boiled off. it depends a bit on how fast the water is getting into the oil.

How much water is it losing?

The trouble is that there are lots of things that can cause rough running, but most of them don't cause loss of water.

Sorry, for some reason the reply about the vacuum return pipe didn't come up at first. Did the water loss get solved, though?

I just think the water issue was a fault on my behalf tbh because iv checked it since and its fine!
