Any Welders Out There?

Featured Replies

My Ford Ka 2002 just got refused an MOT as it was to dangerous to MOT for the reason of rust. The areas that need repairing O/S/F & N/S/R Sills have holes, O/S/F & N/S/R floor AND O/S/R Chassis point. Just looking for a what a rough quote would be to have these welded?

Depends how large the areas are and how much work the repairs need.

Try posting a few pictures.

Would the garage not quote you for the work?

Cheers for the response the garage that did the MOT don't do welding but I've been quoted today £200-£300 for the job which is reasonable for the extent of the work. Thanks

not easy to quote on welding.

in order for a good weld, you need clean metal around the corrosion, so what looks like a 2" diameter hole, can rapidly turn into something much larger in search of sound metalwork.

£2-300 seems a reasonable quote

Its too dangerous to MOT, but they still allowed you to drive it away? Oh, the irony of the MOT system!

If it was that bad, and they don't do welding, it should have been trailered to somewhere that does do welding.

Agree with BigD here, that is rather ironic!
