Hi People

Got a 1999 Ford Focus 2.0 16v, took it to the garage today to find out the previous owner done a bodge job on the exhaust.

basically the down pipe from the cat box has rusted so needs replacing I wouldn't mind putting in a

decat exhaust system which i can get a complete system from manifold to back box for about £150 instead of paying £240 just for a new cat box unit from the garage.

BUT been told would fail the MOT is this correct ????

    thats correct, all hardware pertaining to the emissions of the vehicle must be present at the time of MOT, this includes DPF's and Cat's.

    To further what James has said, you will also struggle to get the emissions low enough without a cat too.

    Best to replace with standard parts
