Egr Valve Or Turbo Or ??? - Help!

Featured Replies

Evening All,

I need some advise regards to the motor!

The car seems to be going into "limp" mode, however I don't think its actually going into "limp" mode as I have normal power / acceleration up until a certain point. The car struggles to reach 3000rpm and when I say struggle....it does not like one bit it and I can feel the car fighting back the power as the whole car jolts! It also seems to produce an increased amount of smoke when fighting back the power.

I have no engine management light showing and the car runs perfectly if I driver her like a saint keeping it under 2000rpm.

Any ideas???

Probably the turbo - the car will feel pretty normal up to about 2k RPM, because that's where the turbo is meant to spring into life. Needs looked at ASAP as you can damage the turbo actuator (the problem is that the turbo is gunked up, so the actuator can't move freely).

Assuming that's what the problem is, you have a couple of choices. 1. Buy a new turbo (you won't get much change out of a grand), or 2. Find a garage that will strip it/clean it. As a 2a option, you could strip it/clean it yourself. It happened on mine and I didn't fancy it - paid someone £200 to do it for me.

But before any of that, you need to get a code reader on it to check for DTCs. Mine had error code P132B.
