New Soon To Be Owner, Saying Hi And Help

Featured Replies

Hey All

Looking to join the ford fiesta club in the next 2 months, but looking for advice on which model / mileage / money is best

I have maybe about 5k to spend on a 2nd run around and really like the 2004-2008? Fiesta's (previous cars have all been 106's XS, GTI's) and current car is a Corsa Limited Edition that the wife will be using

I am currently torn between the 1.6 Zetec s or the 1.6 tdci Zetec 6, since I will be doing around 50mph round trip a day, which would would you choose?

The diesel makes sense, and high mileage car say 60K should last a few years , looked after well, but I keep reading problems about the injector seals?

same car but petrol with same mileage, how much life in it? and ecomically but still fun?

mechanical skill is limited, to brakes , spark plugs, oil changes etc

Thanks for any help.

to be honest, I would go with the diesel. The mileage means you should save some money, but there are some issues with injector seals and the rings, these can be replaced cheaply enough though from what I have gathered. Best to proactively change them than to wait for it to go bang.

Diesels will go and go, you get more power and you can tune them a lot more to get more power either via a tuning box or a remap. Either way they offer more power and more miles at the end of the day. Petrol is better for short runs, and you dont get as much fun in them.

Cool thanks for the feedback dude, I will start searching, is there anything else I should look out that is specific to the model in general?

Cheers for the help

For the fiesta?

To be honest I am a bit out of touch with them these days, but I would say mileage dependant check the history for the water pump (I had an issue with mine early in its life) but otherwise, go with a full service history and make sure you get a good warranty! or buy an extended warranty.
