Just the usual things when buying any car, + its been fitted with a tow bar so see that the DMF/ clutch is ok/ and if/ when it was last replaced

If that dmf does go in the end how much are we looking at to get fixed

Ballpark £600+ privately (2 parts of the clutch/DMF/ CSC - you are recommended to replace all of these things) OR £1000+ from a dealer - the price for the mk3s has come down a fair bit, not sure about the mk4s

Most modern cars have DMFs now, some cost more to fix than that, all diesels now have DPFs etc

Yes, you can often hear "grinding" or "ringing" sounds, the gears can be difficult to change, and there is "slop" in the transmission and these things can become progressively worse as the DMF deteriorates, the starter motor can start to malfunction as well

Hi thanks for the advice picked the car up that was in the link it's stunning now it has the full touchscreen sat-nav radio on the dash there is an information light that keeps popping on cannot find out what it does I was thinking was it for the sat-nav warning that there is traffic or road works? Could this be right thanks
