Horrible Start To A Weekend

Featured Replies

If you could get a report from the fitter that took your blown tyres off stating the condition they were in then any complaint would hold more weight.

Bad Start to a weekend for sure ....

Glad to hear you and your car are fine , sounds like the outcome of the tyre failing could have ended up loads worse so you did well to control that ... Nice skills

rac guy wouldnt let me keep the old tyre ( for fly tipping reasons)
AFAIK, that's bullcrap! The tyre is your property - in fact most places charge you for disposal. If you want to frame it and hang it on the wall then that's your prerogative.

Anyway, don't get me started on the RAC. Personally I wouldn't let them within 50 yards of my car.

I have a receipt from the garage, could ask the rac for a report i guess?? And its wasnt any skill m8 lol, i tried to fight it but no good so from 5th to third and hope for the best lol and yh thats what he said i wasnt aloud it back, if i was court dumping it he could then get in trouble.... It's because if they give the tyres back to you then they can't charge you the recycling fee.

They sell them themselves and make money both sides.

Sounds like a complaint to the RAC as well then Daniel.

Ok spoken to the garage and Michelin and also spoken to a friends mum whos a lawyer, the garage said they are brand new tyres brand new as in made this year, i cannot find any details on the tyres telling me when they were made, they said i can try Michelin but its not their problem as its my word about the road conditions, even tho i can show them where it happened lol, so no compo from them or a sorry. So filed a complaint and waiting for a rep to get back to me, when i asked the lawyer she said i could take them to court as i have a case and she could represent me, but after court fees her time and everything else id only get a small amount of money back so in her opinion its not worth it so im never using those tyres or garage again, i got a report from the rac and im the techs words "the customer said the road was flat and in perfect condition when the tyre blow out it wasnt caused by a pothole or debry but we cannot confirm this" so it is my word against theirs so whats the point at least i know i have piece of mind the tyres and car is ok, but if the car had be damaged it be taking them to court but hey ho

You'll get nowhere with that, people normally complain to councils for car damage as they are responsible for the upkeep of the public highway, unless you can prove the tyre was faulty but I doubt you'll be able to defeat one of the largest tyre manufacturers who no doubt have very robust quality control. The garages public liability insurers will just write to them to confirm the quality procedure and locate the batch of tyres you had and say it passed and you'll be lumbered with a large cost to pay.

I'd just suck it up personally and not bother. That has fail written all over it.

i have a spare now so all good lol haha

Just got your information,,,,,, every tyre has a 4 digit code on the sidewall, this is how you work out when a tyre was made,,, example, it will say something like 2713, meaning it was made in the 27th week of 2013. All tyres have this, so you could check that out. But as I stated earlier in this post, you'd be fighting a losing battle with this. Best just forget it and move on. And be thankful you are ok :-)
