although you could get some muppet who just likes to stand at crossings all day with no intention of crossing. :D

I genuinly had that not too long ago. He was standing right at the edge of the crossing facing the road looking towards me. I slow down, he shows no intentions of moving so I was starting to wonder what was going on. He then waves me on, along with the car quite a way back from me. Watching in my mirror, after this other car had gone past he then crossed. Weird chap!

Agree entirely BigD, but at the end of the day, when they are "jaywalking" as the americans would say, they step into the path of traffic where traffic has priority, then it most certainly is nothing that can be defended.
