Ford Focus gears seizing up! Help!!!

Featured Replies

I have a 1.8 Zetec Focus and when i drive long distances at high speeds (e.g 60-70 mph for about 5-10 minutes) the gears seems to seize up.

Usually it is when im in 5th gear and cruising then when i try to come out of 5th the gears feel really stiff and can hardly move them! And when i try putting it in 1st it just flicks in to 3rd, and its nearly impossible to drive.

People have suggested gearbox oil etc, but wondering if anyone has had this problem and know for deffinate what it could be? <_<

i would start with changing the gear oil as it appears the temperature of the gearbox is affecting your problem? should cost less than £20 if your doing it yourself
