Ford Focus 1.4 Burning Oil

Featured Replies

hello to everyone , is there anyone that can give me advise please , i have a ford focus 1.4 ,it ran fine , until i had my cambelt , water pump , rocker cover gasket done , now its burning oil , theres white smoke on acceleration , ive also had to change coil pack , plugs , breather pipes , can anyone help please

White is steam, blue smoke is oil how much oil is being consumed compared to miles

Have you to top up the oil level much?

thanks leonard would say about a litre every week , i can smell the oil burning inside the car , all this has started since i had my cambelt done

I wouldnt tink its over the cam change. Must b burning it threw the valves or rings. Try this when goin down a hill, a big enough hill put the car in 3rd gear dont accelerate and let the car free wheel to the bottom. Wen u get to the bottom of the hill floor it while lookin in ur rear view mirror if u see a puff of smoke then I think u have sum piston ring wear. Whats the milage of ur car? And what oil do u use?

If ur car is burning oil either way true valves or rings try useing a heavier grade oil and try keep the revs under three thousand. Had a 1.4 golf a while back burnt !Removed! loads of oil but noticed the easier I drove it the less oil it used. Keep it topped up wit a good oil castrol magnatec, and dont b heavy footed itl save u money and ur engine will last a long time. Or a bottle of red ex and sell it ha
