Zetec Throttle Position Sensor Problem?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have an 02 1.4 zetec, recently, I've been having problems while driving it.

My engine cuts out, while driving. Before it happened when I put the clutch down - car would just comletely die and it would take me ages to get it started again (revs would rise on ignition, but then fall straight away). Happened a few times like this, till yesterday, going up a hill, it felt like it was losing power and shuddering (as if it were going to stall) I just thought it was me, as was on a hill at the time, so just put the accelerator down a bit more. But then the engine just stopped again and wouldn't start.

On advice, someone promted me it is probably the throttle body, which would probably need replacing, but on reading up a little, people have said the problem has actually been the throttle position sensor, not the throttle body.

I have no engine lights come up, no codes when it was plugged to a code reader.

Has anyone else had the same problem with their Fiesta and it resulted in the throttle position sensor, or something more serious?

It's getting dangerous, stopping in the middle of moving traffic!
