Ford Focus Speedo Goes To Zero

Hi There

I have a Ford Focus zetec 2002 Auto and after three or four miles the speedo goes to zero and the gearbox struggles to go into second by itself, I have to manually do it.

Things will return back to normal after a mile or two but I have to know my speed at all times.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    just don't know what you mean by - Auto models with electronic stability program (ESP) use the abs/esp module for detecting speed?
