It is 240PS - as far as im aware it is a slightly detuned Focus ST engine

Dont know where you got the 203PS from, but they may sell different power outputs in other countries, or sell another version that has been detuned (probably by a ditterent map) - if that is the case it would be easy to unleash the missing horses via a remap/ Bluefin etc

Thanks Foca,

It was bought from a Ford dealership a couple of weeks ago. The ford literature for this moel would indicate 240.

On bluefin they sent me this? Which would indicate stock 203?

Can't get the staff these days

Usually the MPG gets worse on a petrol engine with the performance map, it may stay the same (but you have the extra power when you need it) - it depends on conditions/ your driving style, with the extra torque it is possible you could get another couple of MPG if you were careful

The stock car isnt exactly underpowered but with the Superchips its going to be quick

Would you recommend the superchips over a local mobile tuner/remapper. I like the fact the bluefin is DIY.

Do you know if it needs to remain plugged in 24/7?

  • Solution

The bluefin is loaded onto the ecu via the data port then the handset is removed.

You only need the handset again to update the map, reload the original map or if using the handset as a fault code reader.

Yes, i would recommend them,- there are a lot of remappers around, including cowboys - Superchips has been around for many years, (since 1977, i believe) and has good after-sales service, Stoney has answered the other part of your question

Did bluefin at weekend. Fuel usage doesn't budge off 25mpg. Torque is unreal. Very very pleased, with performance! :D

I thought they were 203 as it tells you when you check the stats on auto-Trader, is one higher than the other because of transmission ? Auto / manual +

I had a look on autotrader at this myself. Some are 203 others are 240. It doesn't look like they changed at a particular age. I'll do some digging!
