S-Max 2.0 Tdci 06 Major Engine Problems

Featured Replies

06 s-max with major ongoing problem, for the last 2 years the car will always hestiate under load sometime's there is just nothing there when you accelerate and the engine will whistle when up to temperature, we are now getting engine malfunction light and car going into limp mode, car has been in and out of the service department and once being told by a member of staff they cant fix the problem and the car does not store error codes. EGR valve has been replaced along with the throttle body, two new fuel filters and countless diagnostic checks, the car is now extremely unreliable and unsafe. we have also had countless other problems with the car.

clutch and flywheel, fuse link, gear selector, battery and starter motor, split turbo hose, indactors, countless failure to start, alarm, door latch.

Have you got any error codes that we could look at?

It sounds to me like your either running a complicated electrical error, or something simple that is causing the troubles, but the error codes should help to narrow the field.

Unfortunatley the car is back with the ford service team yet again, there just seems to be no old school machanics who can fault find, one of the techinicians took the car to and from work last week and it played up, when he ran another diagnostic error codes were for the maf sensor, this has made no difference fitting a new one, i origanly thought fuel pump but surley this would cut all power from the egine, maybe a faulty turbo which would put the car into limp mode, or maybe a simple air leak somewhere?

air leak or sticky turbo vanes would be my two guesses, but you should be able to identify such an air leak. Normally a small leak would just leave a plume of smoke behind you, but a major one could cause the EML? Again that should be noticeable.
