Dodo juice red mist! No pics right now though. Yours looks stunning!

Dat shine

I used Dodo juice purple haze wax for the first time a week or so ago. Not too bad, though I live right by the beach so it's stinking and covered in sand by the next day

Not a great picture but here you go;

Lots of people have mentioned this Dodo stuff. Must check it out. This was with Autoglym HD wax.. After snow foaming, shampooing, claying and polishing. Ugh. It was quite a long day!

Noob alert ! !

What is wax ?

I polish my car but I have never waxed it what does this involve, and do you do it after you have polished it or just leave the polish away and wax it ?

I use poor boys blue wax ultra, and waxing creates layer on top of the paint work which can be super shiny or glossy, it helps to stop water dirt dust oil tar from sticking to the paint and can help prevent scratches (shallow only tho) you clean the car and buff it dry then apply the wax then i tend to use a sealant on top of the wax to seal any lighter areas i havnt gone over too well with it last up to 6months i tend to wax mine every 2 months and washing the car after a wax is so easy all the dirt and grime lifts right off.

Polish you could use after the was like a sealant i guess?

Anyone any experience of using Autoglym's Aqua wax?

Basically, after washing the car (2 bucket method obviously :P ), you squirt this on it a panel at a time wipe over it with a MF cloth. Then buff off with a MF drying towel.

my dad uses that but i dont like the result it gives, i prefer to spend more time waxing it and sealing after

Well, it's been polished and waxed properly, I just thought this might be better than plain-drying the car afterwards. Hmm. I'll do more research.

Basically you can get 5 litre bottles like they have at garages of this Aquawax and of the Autoglym detailer spray. They are the same price.. 35 quid. Mega cheap when you consider Halfords sell 500ml bottles of both for 8 quid a pop.

When I clayed the car and used the detailing spray (it doubles up as clay lubricant) it looked AMAZING afterwards. That was even before polishing and waxing. So I might just go with that.

Decisions decisions!!

Hi John. Wax is basically a sealing layer that you apply after polishing. Or, if you car is new enough/if your paint is in good enough condition, you might not need polish at all.

I like it. I use it as a top up. When I think the car isn't beading enough I use the aquawax to keep me going till I get a day to do the proper job with HD wax. It lasts 2-4 week's and is just as quick as drying.

Waste of time if you've already applied a long term wax though!

Don't mean to be an !Removed! here.....

99% of the time, polish is either: 1. Abrasive and removes fine scratches or blemishes by removing a tiny layer of paint. Or 2. A filler, and fills the scratches, effectively hiding or masking imperfections in the paint. 3. Both of the above.

If the polish your using is the abrasive kind and you do it after waxing, you'll be taking the wax you just spend so long applying back off again!

Wax is a sealing layer and should be used last.

Hope this helps a few people out!

post-51588-140010619223_thumb.jpgdodo juice all the way!

Ive been using amorall shield wax recently. The purist will probably keel over, but that stuff it so easy to use, I use it everywhere plastics included, just wipe on wipe off. It beads water like nothing I've ever seen and hides swirls and minor scratches too. The only thing I don't like about it is that it doesn't feel glossy to the touch like a traditional wax but still looks great/very glossy.

I've always been a fan of Autgylm waxes myself. For the quality and price you can't go wrong.

Here's my car with a full coat of extra gloss protection which is a sealant. I always find a sealant takes better to the car in slightly colder weather and is a lot less time consuming. I'll start waxing her with the autogylm HD wax in a few weeks time and really go to town on it.

Also a lot of prepping is the key to a great shine! A PH neutral APC, snow foam, proper car wash with suds using 2BM, then a dry off with proper micro fibre drying towel. Doing this definitely helps 100x more than just washing and waxing.

Sorry no pictures of my Focus as I'm on my phone and it's Filthy any way but I use either Meguiars No16 wax or DoDo Juice Diamond white hard wax.

i use hellshine abyss wax in the summer and collonite for a more durable finish in the bad weather..

As above a polish is used to improve the appearance of the paintwork by removing a very thin layer of paint ...

Wax or sealants provides a last stage protection.... sealing in all your hardwork

Claying before all these stages will remove any bonded contaminants (tar/tree sap/brake dust) and provide you with the perfect base to start from

... very thin layer of paint ...

I suppose that you've meant clearcoat. :)

Made use of the good weather this morning, a quick wash and wax.

Using autogylm shampoo and Collonite 845.
