St Early Oil And Filter Change

Featured Replies

There is a lot of confusion here over the grade of oil and the specification of Oil, read the manual and it has to comply with a certain code, just having 5W30 isn't the be all and end all, it says in there it must comply with X,Y,Z and the grade is 5W30, using anything that matches that will be perfectly fine, using a 5W30 and a different spec could although unlikely cause some issues and warranty problems.

KevZS, out of curiosity what issues have you had due to the wrong oil grade? Pressure problems?

Probably that Tesco Oil, Carlube crap, used that in an Old MK3 Astra GSI and it just tapped it !Removed! off for the rest of it's life, never went cheap with Oil again after that.

I checked the manual, it says 5W-20 or an alternative is 5W-30 except for 1.0L Ecoboost. That seems strange considering Shell don't sell 5W-20 oil.

The oil we get for those services is castrol edge professional 5w20 which is green in colour , ive not seen any other companies supply this oil

So this is what the dealer will use? I'll check with them of course.

It should be, you can always request that they definately use it to make sure. Its a 5ltr bottle we get which doesnt all get used so I nirmally leave the excess in the boot foe top ups (you could ask them to do that too)

Thanks, I'll ask them. I'd be a bit worried if I had to start topping up the oil though lol.

Its doubtful that you will need to I just feel that because your paying for the oil you should get the whole bottle :p

You mean you don't put it into a giant vat to keep over time in order to buy less? Is the motor trade on the verge of becoming honest?
