Hi if i get a second hand fob can it be programmed to the car? seen video on YouTube where you turn ignition on and off 4 times then when buzzer sounds you press the button on the fob, if yes doing this wouldn’t stop my own fob from working would it. My son just brought a Focus LX 2006 but it only came with 1 fob thanks for any help.

That works for programming to the central locking only.

To program the transponder chip in the key to the immobiliser system (PATSII) so the kwy can start the car you would need access to an IDS module.

Best thing is to get in touch with a couple of Auto Locksmiths and get quotes.

The key can be "hacked" as my new one has, whereby the carbon chip can be removed and can be replaced with a glass chip, which can be coded by any high street keycutter offering car key services.

Thanks for the reply’s I know it won’t start the car the fob only opens the doors. Got a spare key and transponder chip local locksmith said he can program it to start the car. So I take it then it is yes that if I get a fob from scrapyard it can be programmed to the centre locking to open the car, will my own fob still work read on Google when programming a new fob some folk said there own stop working.

It is advisable to register all rcl keys together on the same programming phase to reduce the risk of one being overwritten by another.
