Strange Whining Noise When Switch Off Engine

Featured Replies

Only had my 2007 MkIV Mondeo about a couple of weeks so still getting used to it!! There's a strange whining noise when I switch off the engine. Only lasts a couple of seconds but wondering what it could be.

could be the fan bearings?

You'll hear all sorts is you stand and listen... If I unlock the doors and do nothing it's the same. Just all the relays and electrics.

I noticed that if I have the bonnet popped the car markes interesting noises with no key in the ignition, you hear the EATC shutting down, then every few minutes, you hear another part of the electrics shut down, until after about 15 - 20 minutes, the 12v shuts off and the car is left running on bare minimum battery power.
