Tee-Dogg
Hi everyone i own a ford mondeo mk3 2006 and i have been having a problem with my egr valve. basically my car has had this jolting problem from when it is sitting idle, once it has warmed right up it is fine. I decided to google what the jolting problem could be and alot of people seemed to think it could be a stuck egr valve. they said the cure would be to clean the valve out. so i decided to remove the valve myself, cleaned it all out, and put it back on. it didnt cure the jolting but even worse, the glowplug light started flashing and i was losing abit of power (turbo wasnt kicking in). i decided to take it to my local garage and have it wired up and the diagnosis was showing egr valve. so i took it back home, removed the valve again to make sure i cleaned it properly, put it back and then not only was the glowplug light still flashing, but the engine light came on too!! in the end i had the valve replaced with a new one and all has been well until earlier today i decided to take the car for a thrashing up the dual carriageway and suddenly the turbo cut out and the glow light started flashing again. so i decided to turn the engine off. turn it back on and take it for a spin again. since then it has been fine. sorry for the long story but its been a constant worry on financial side of things. just wondering if any of you have witnessed the same problem and have any info they could share would be more than grateful. thankyou Scott
xdazx
Have you tested the glow plugs to make sure they are all ok
jeebowhite
Agree, I would be looking at glow plug as they are a common symptom of this issue, the egr can always benefit from a clean but otherwise you may have upset the glow plug harness Sent from my MY SAGA C2 using Ford OC mobile app
Tee-Dogg
That's what I thought at first but the diagnostics test was showing egr valve and it only started doing this once I had it cleaned. U don't think it could be something to do with the air pressure that is being pushed through the valve?
xdazx
Have u checked for a air leak on the pipes
Tee-Dogg
yeah i couldnt see anything, like i said thats the first time i really put my foot down since i had the new egr valve fitted and i felt the loss of power straight away, but on the way back home it was fine. so i was just wondering if it could have just been a little glitch that (fingers crossed) may have sorted itself out now
