Right. I am getting very annoyed and confused.

I now require a new clutch for my 2008 Ford Fiesta MK6 (6.5) 1.4 TDCi. However, when I contact numerous shops and dealers they are all telling me that my vehicle is a MK5. As far as I know the MK5 ceased production around 2002?

I just cannot get through to these people, even when I've shown them the registration documents etc..

What the hell is going on??

You are correct it's a MK6 or 6.5. I think the confusion comes from the fact that in the UK the facelift of the MK4 was called the MK5 because it looked very different from the front, so we've skipped a number compared to other countries. I don't know if dealers refer to it as a MK6 but that's what it is, if that makes sense.

It's the same with the focus mate. Mine is a focus mk2.5 however some places call it mk4. They think the facelift is a new Mk. Searching for parts is never easy. Lol

I still refer to it a a mk4 as it was just a facelift, same apart from just the front even the interior.

Easiest way to tell the difference between Mk6 and Mk6.5 is the Mk6 has smooth headlights and the Mk6.5 headlights have a bulge over the side light bulb.

I know that...... I have had both. But they keep saying these are MK5. Totally different model as I recall?

I wouldn't trust a garage that doesn't know what car it is.

Do bear in mind that the Mk scheme is not officially used by Ford, they go purely by registration/build year only.

That's what I think but, of course, this doesn't really help.

Even our local Ford garage uses the same details. According to their computer programme, which I also managed to take a look at today, shows the MK6 & MK6.5 from 2002 to 2008 (as I know them) - MK 5, and the latest model from 2008 onwards - MK6.

Why make things so difficult?

I had a 54 plate fiesta and it was the mk6 so don't no how they have come up with that.

That can't be right as my 2004 fiesta was mk6.

My wife's 2001 fiesta was Mk5.
