hi all newbie first post hope its in the right place.iv just bought a 05 plate 3 door 1.6 ti vct .so far really like the car iv had lots of fords over the years so new i wouldn't be disappointed . how ever i just read the focus mk2 common problems on hear and am now worried about the vct failing and costing a fortune to fix. could some one tell me is it some thing that is defiantly likely to fail at some point or do some cars never have a problem ? starting to think i should of bought the 1.6 100 bhp modal now.all so the timing belt is over due so needs replacing. iv done timing on cars before is it harder to do on the ti vct or best left to ford to sort out. and help would be much appreciated thanks :)

Certainly the issue occurred on the MK1 CMAX, but I believe the issue can also affect the MK2 Focus.

Basically its a failure of the Torque Converter it would appear. Now, if you can get the gearbox oil and filter replaced it can prolong the life of the gearbox.

Check the documentation of the car and chck if its the ZF gearbox, if so then yes you can most likely suffer the issue.
