You should have really started your own thread for this

There are people who have gone through 4 EGR valves in the time they have had their Mondeo mk3 diesel Euro4 (2.0 or 2.2)

Best thing to do is fit a solid EGR blanking plate - then the gunge wont build up in the inlet manifold in the 1st place - and if the EGR fails, the car keeps running

Other thing worth knowing is the x-type jag (diesel) EGR valve is a lot cheaper than a Ford one

ok thanks for that advice. so if i was to fit a blanking plate it wouldnt harm the car in any way. And can i leave it on?

Yes,

you can leave it on, in an ideal world the best time to fit a solid EGR

blanking plate is when the car is brand new, before the EGR "system"

can contaminate/ fill the inlet manifold, inlets, valves combustion chamber

with carbon/ gunge - and kept on

The

inlet manifold often has to be cleaned out (taken off and cleaned properly -

not by "scoosh" ) as well as the EGR plate fitted, because of the

previous contamination

On

most Euro3 Fords, a solid blanking plate can be fitted and left on with no

problems, on some Euro 4/5 cars, a solid plate can make the EML (engine

management light) come on, this can be reset with a code reader, many owners

prefer to run thier cars like this (with a solid plate but having to reset

their EML regularily) rather than not having their EGR valve blanked

A

plate with holes in is a waste of time - defeats the purpose/ point of the

plate

Ok. I just don't want to fiddle about with my egr anymore as the last time I did I managed to set the glow light and the EML off lol. Thanks anyway :)
