Help With A Mk5 Fiesta Zetec

Featured Replies

Hi all, new to this forum after purchasing a Ford Fiesta Zetec Mk5 on an 03 plate. Had only done 29,000 miles, didn’t have a mark on the in/outside, and on general inspection, looked a good solid car. However, the Fiesta had limited use when I bought it, the couple had a business just down the road, and it did lest than a mile there and back, or if not used, was left sitting on the driveway.

Anyway, after blowing out more than a few cobwebs, I’ve ended up having all 4 shock absorbers replaced, all 4 wheel bearing, discs, pads, a few bushes and 2 x new tires. My mechanic, who is trusted, has said that where the car has been sitting, it has basically done it more bad than good.

As the weeks go on, and the more it’s moving about, I’m now starting to notice more things going wrong with the car, so hopefully someone
can help and advise me whether to throw any more money at it;

1) When breaking, from 20Mph down to a stop, there is a clicking/knocking noise that seems to be coming from the passenger side foot well area. This doesn’t happen when breaking from say 50Mph, it only kicks in around 20Mph. It’s odd as it doesn’t happen when the car is cold, only warm, but there is also a clear knocking noise, as if something is slightly lose when driving down a bumpy road.

2) Constant humming noise from inside the cab whenthe car is ticking over. Definitely sounds exactly like a bearing does when onegoes, but what could it be, maybe linked to the next problem;

3) Have a feeling a bearing has gone in one of thepulleys. The above humming noise can be heard in the cab first, but is then replacedor overpowered by a noise that is only best described as a screeching, whiningnoise, bit like a whistling kettle. This can be heard outside the car, but notsure if it’s linked.

Anyway, hope someone can help or give advice. I'm at a stage now where I think it's best to sell the car and cut my loses. Many thanks in advance.
