Do Mk5 Mondeo Diesels Need Special Care/servicing

Featured Replies

Hi All,

New member here, just picking the brains of current Mk 5 Mondeo Owners.

I am thinking of replacing my ageing Scorpio Ultima with a Titanium/Titanium X Modeo Diesel.

I belive I read somewhere that these newer diesel Mondeos need their fuel filters replaced every 1000 miles, at extortinate costs, Is this information correct.

My only experience of diesel technology was my 1986 1.6 ltr Escort van which was virtually unbreakable, I used to do 1500 miles a week for almost 3 years and it never missed a beat, without the bonnet open you never knew it was a diesel. This information regarding the fuel filters on later Mondeos has left me swaying towards a 2.3 litre petrol variant, Unfortunately these are scarce in comparison to the deisel varinats. I am not in the position to go for the 2.0 ltr Ecoboost Engine.

Thanks in anticipation. :)

Peter.

Hi Peter,

I presume you mean either the MK4 (2007 (57) - 2013) or the MK4.5 (2013 -- today)?

the fuel filters dont need replacing that frequently. The servicing remains at once a year (12.5k miles) whilst the best advice is to change the air and fuel filter every 6 months to get the best out of the car.
