2.0L Tdci Si Shudders On Accelerating.

Featured Replies

Hi guys, I am new to this forum and I am 20. So please any help would be very much appreciated.

I have a ford focus 2006 2.0L TDCi Si Hatch with over 165 000km on the clock, but my problem is that.

If I drive the car normally below 2500 RPM then nothing happens, but as soon as I accelerate pas 2500 RPM the car starts to shudder/ loosses power and suddenly gaining power withing 5 to 8 seconds as if you are hitting the bracks as you accelerate?

Now the car has been to ford and all they can say is a filthy diesel pump, so they are replacing it but with no assurance that the problem will be fixed.

Does anyboddy have an idee what i can tell ford to look for?

Please help.

Thanks

I would have hoped Ford would know what to look for (in an ideal world) :)

Back in the real world, you really need to get the fault codes read, these symptoms may be anything from blocked fuel filter, blocked DPF (if fitted), sticking VNT mech, dirty or worn injectors etc, etc, and of course, the EGR valve, , sometimes its best to do the "service" things like the fuel & air filter 1st, then the cheaper things like (guess what) fit an EGR blanking plate and clean out the inlet manifold of the carbon/ gunk the EGR valve has previously deposited

a good old fashioned "italian tune up" (the more often the better) might help too

Hi, thanks for the reply.

I will obtain an ELM327 adapter and will be able to have a look at the error codes i am getting.

As to the service, I have done it and noticed that they have replaced the oil filter twice due to the fact it got very dirty very fast.

The car does not have the problem since but to ensure a perfect situation, I would like to fix most of the problems i have.

And the one that bothers me the most is an fuel senser something in the dieselpump self. Now this comes up faulty...

Is that bad?

Have a look at my signature for "got an error on your car?" this has a lot of advice on buying the adapters etc.

As for the shudder, the fuel pump being contaminated will affect the flow along with the fuel filter itself, so it makes sense that it is part of the issue, but if you have a dirty fuel pump the rest of the lines will be contaminated and dirty, I would suggest that you might want to consider something like a fuel treatment such as terraclean to get the best of it! along with an engine flush if your oil filter is getting that dirty as well!
