Fiesta tubro 10 petrol and just bought new some 4 months ago.

Take it back on to the dealer but it could be either the car doesn't recognise the key or the key is damaged. I had this on my mondeo when the glass chip in my modified flip key broke

Managed to start the engine on long charge of battary. However the battery cannot charge to 12volt and stops at only 6volt. Can the battary be defective or otherwise?

Sounds like a bad battery, take the car to several garages who offer free battery and alternator checks! dont take one garages word, take a pool of 3 or 4 garages. If the battery cant charge above 6v then it wont start the car...

Take it back to the dealer as said, shouldn't be doing that at 4 months old. Did you take it for a good run out after getting it started to try and charge the battery back up?
