We have a 2001 Mk 5 Fiesta Flight with alloys fitted with 175/65 R14 tyres. I have been looking at a set of steel wheels from a 2003 model fitted with 185/65 tyres. Will I be able to just swap them?

The golden rule is overall diameter and the stud holes matching (of course). If the overall diameter is the same then your speedo will continue to be correct. If you change the width of the tyre you must tell the insurers. As for the sizes you mention above hopefully someone will confirm.

The extra 10mm of width on the tyres should be fine. Only thing to check is that they are clear of the suspension and things. But I would think you would have enough clearance
