Burning Oil Fast!

Featured Replies

Hi I bought my 2001 1.8 ford Mondeo just over a month ago. The car only has 69000 on the clock. When first bought the car when my partner was revving the engine there was a lot of blue and grey smoke. When checking on previous mots online there has been for the previous 2 years fails on emissions and checking the millage looks like the car didn't get driven a lot. The car was just put through a mot in may. The previous owner did say it wasn't used a lot.

The problem with the smoke has completely gone. I do about just under 200 miles a week in this car so was thinking I have cleared out whatever that problem was.

But now I have the engine management light come on and with a obd its giving a code for the egr. But the car is also burning a lot of oil and that's worrying me.

Can anyone tell me if the problem with the egr valve be causing the burning of a lot of oil. I am having to top it up every week and when I check its always on the min mark.

I am about to go on holiday to Blackpool and from where a live is about 200 miles drive and am really worried about this drive.

The car runs great and it is also good on fuel surprising due to the egr valve needing replaced.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
