Electric Window Stuck- Heavy Rain Due! Eek!

Featured Replies

My drivers side electric window has suddenly stopped working, wound down everything fine, wound up it went bang, bang, bang, clunk 1/2 inch from the top went whiirrr! and that's where it stayed! Any ideas? I've booked in at independent garage for Monday, as thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast in area would really like it closed over the weekend! eek

Managed to pull it up to top with hands both side of window, phew! Rain's started :-)

Has it stayed up or is it misbehaving still?

Stayed up so far thanks, haven't driven it yet though! At least didn't come crashing down when I closed the door! Not going to try the electrics, I'll leave that to the professionals, something rattled down inside the door when I opened and closed it, so I'm thinking the motor is still OK as making all the appropriate noises and don't want to risk blowing it completely! The window went on my mk4 I simply oyed that to the top and jammed it there with the winder! Ha ha, simple :-)

Had a little look on web and I'm thinking it's the window regulator, or components of?

Probably so, I would say remove the door card it should show up clearly what's wrong...

Ha ha unlikely, I'm leaving that to the people who know what's what! But I know how much the item is from fordparts UK, so whatever they charge me after that would be labour. Don't want to get ripped off :-( Stepdaughter went to another local garage to have same thing repaired, they told her it was a nightmare and it took three people to hold this and that! I watched a YouTube video that shows how to repair one if the plastic bit holding the cable had broken, that needed a couple of people! I suspect they watched the same clip as it still clunks and grinds its way up and down!!

Yeah the window should be removed to do the job properly, rivets need drilling out then fitting and putting it all back together

I know this is an old topic but did you ever get the window sorted?
