Ford Focus: Can Mk2 Seats Fit Into A Mk3?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2011 ford focus titanium 5dr, it's the newest shape (ie same as 2014.)

My first question is.... is my car (ie the latest shape) a Mk3?... it's just that I have seen somewhere Mk 5 mentioned unless that was just a typo by someone! lol

Second question is... can the seats from the earlier shape (2008-2011 Mk2 I think?) fit into my car?... My car seats have ben badly treated ie cigarette burns on each of the seats with the the from two also stained. I have had then cleaned several times but seats still let the car down. So my options are seat covers, and quality tailored seat covers can cost several hundred pounds (don't want the cheapy ones!)... OR... I buy second hand Ford Focus seats from a car breakers. I prefer the second option but when I'm searching for car seats on ebay and local scrap dealers there seems to be a lot for earlier models but hardly any for the latest shape. Hence my query if I can fit Mk2 seats into a Mk 3 car?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Kal

The Mk 3 is the latest shape. Some call it a Mk 5 because instead of calling the facelift versions a Mk1.5, Mk2.5 they called these the Mk 2 and Mk4.

You may be able to get the front seats from a Mk2 or 2.5 into a Mk 3 but the airbag wiring is going to be different and the backseats definitely wont fit. Your better off looking for a set from a scrappy but as the car is still relatively new they may be difficult to find.

Thanks... and yeah there seems to be lots of Mk1 & Mk2 available out there but little or no Mk3 seats!

I have thought about leather car seat covers, but the quality tailored or made to measure ones can cost upwards of £250 and I'm not sure how authentic or good they'll look... has anyone here bought any tailored seat covers and were you happy with them?

Many thanks for the link!... I'm going to wait a bit I think and see if I can get my hands on a complete set of leather seats.

Tbh you'll be very lucky if you get some leather ones!

If money wasn't a problem it would be best to get them retrimmed in "proper" leather but that would probably cost £1000+! :(

£1000+ is a little out of my budget... I think that's why I'm considering some tailored made leather seat covers. I came across a post (can't remember if it was on this site?) where some guy uploaded pictures of fitted leather seat covers bought from "jcseatcovers" and they actually looked pretty good! (from the pics anyway). He said they cost him around £240. So I was wondering if anyone else here would recommend tailored/made to measure seat covers?

if your wanting them, it can be a better alternative to buying new, but you have to make sure that they support the side airbags,!

I checked and apparently these tailor made one's do support the side airbags.

in which case it could be the best of both worlds :D
