False Boot Open Warning Setting Off Alarm?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Recently my alarm has been going off for no reason & warning on dash says boot open warning, even tho it's definitely closed.

I had a similar problem last year with the bonnet & managed to disable it with a paper clip in the connector.

Is there a similar trick I can do with the boot? or if I have to replace a part would it be the latch assembly or the boot release switch?

I have taken both apart and cleaned them with wd40 which works for a few days but then the problem returns usually at Three in the morning

Disconnecting the four pin block connector on the latch does cure the problem but causes boot open warning continually on the dash.

Any advise would be gratefully welcomed.

Stevie.

I had this problem and it turned out to be the latch not the switch. I bought a new one from evans halshaw for just under 50 quid. Probably could of got it cheaper online but I wanted sorted asap. Looking at the old latch it seemed like it was locking before the latch had fully closed leaving the boot loose. It looked like it could be fixed but too fiddly for me. Part number is 1761865 assuming it is a mk7. Hope this helps :)

Thanks for the quick reply,I should have said it was a 59 plate ZS.

It could be the same problem as you had, as a check on google came up with similar symptoms being caused by water damage, but both latch and switch were still like new when I checked them which could possibly rule out faulty switch.

Cheers for the part No I will see what prices Mr Google throws up.
