Engine Malfunction Traction Control Light

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Was driving home today and I suddenly had an engine malfunction come on my dashboard and also the traction control light came on. I pulled over turned engine off while I tried to phone recovery then started engine back up with no warnings.

My car is a mondeo 1.8 titanium 2009 model

Any help will be very much appreciated

Thanks

first thing to do is to get some error codes!

First off, where are you in the world? secondly, turn the engine off, key to 0 and press and hold the OK button on the steering wheel, turn the engine over to position II (Electrics) this button until "TEST" appears on screen. Now just keep pressing "OK" until such a time as it gets to DTC Codes.

I shot a quick video of this a while ago, hopefully this helps! You might need to turn your head :P

Look at around 58 seconds, this is when DTC appears on the screen, this is what your looking for.

Click me to watch the video:

The first few seconds are where I was moving the camera to allow me to turn the car on and press OK at the same time.

how very odd! I dont seem to be able to find that one on the web....

Where abouts in the UK are you? You need to do an OBD Diagnostic, perhaps if your local to one of our members they may be able to help you out. The code not being present (on the web) might be a red herring code, or it might be an instrument cluster code.

Problem found, ford have diagnosed it as a faulty injector lucky I had a warranty on the car when I bought it so don't need to pay for repair
