I have a 2009 Mondeo TDCI which I have just purchased, is it normal for the diesel engine to give out a sigh/moan every time I switch off?

The car appears to be operating normally otherwise.

    I have the 57 MK4, depends on what groan you mean? the car emits noises as its shutting down, but it really depends on the noise your hearing!

    Mine has the 2.0 motor, the sound is something like a bellows is deflating!

    cant say I have heard anything like that. I get groans like a motor winding down where the EATC I think is closing off. and there are a few clicks where the systems enter standby.
