Forcing Car Into Gears....

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, first of all let me start by saying that this is my first post and i'm very glad to be a member :)

I recently bought a MK6 Fiesta, 1.25 zetec. Having driven the car for a couple of months I noticed that it was having problems going down the gears. Thinking nothing of it I drove on, though one morning it stopped going into gear altogether!

Making a long story short, I had the car 4 months and the dealer I bought it from had me pay 220 pounds for a new clutch kit and slave cylinder (Supposedly!) as this is what he said caused the issue when selecting gear.

Straight after the repair I noticed that the car was hard to put into first gear when first started, though if I put my foot on the clutch then started the car it would go without fault.

The dealer is useless, brought it to him and he says there does not seem to be a problem.

Since leaving it in I have noticed that when trying to put the car into gear that it will sometimes shudder the whole car slightly, there is a clicking that goes away when clutch pedal is depressed and when stationary the car will sometimes make a clunk, similar to when an aircon unit is turned on. I have also just realised that there is oil leaking from below the car, tiny amounts but still :/

Would anyone be able to assist? Thanks in advance!

Also point out to him under UK law that he was responsible for the clutch being faulty up to 6 months regardless of what he claims

Look for the flow chart on page 28

So demand that he re-imburses you for the clutch and that if he doesnt fix it to your satisfaction you will reject the car and he will give you your money back

Thank you for your advice mate, going to have a word with him tomorrow.

Just went below car thinking that the oil was coming from the drain plug or the filter. It seems to be leaking from further back, between the two wheel, looks like some sort of linkage? Unfortunately I can't get below it properly to see :(

See your in NI. I think the SOGA is the same there, but best check.

Looking at all the problems I would suggest just rejecting the car and demanding your money back. Have trading standards number in your phone and print out that PDF before you go

ANY faults before 6 months are deemed to be present when sold and are the dealers responsibility. Your car is therefore Not fit for the purpose

Good luck
