Ford Fiesta Zetec 08 Overheating

Featured Replies

Hi guy my cars overheating

When the guade goes right up the expansion tank fulls up like it's over flowing

Top of radiation is warm but the bottom is cold

Am toning to change tomorrow

Expansion cap

Thermostat

But if any one knows what it could be would be great

If the bottom hose is cold then it suggests that you have a blockage in the system, perhaps a blocked hose, or a blockage in the radiator. You need to follow the pipes back until you find the part of the system where the hot stops and the cold starts.

Yah bud the bottom of radiator is cold but the top was warm that's why a thought it could be the thermostat not opening and that's why the waters going back into the expansion bottle

Thats as good a place as anywhere to start. I would still feel around the thermostat, if its hot one side, cold the other then yeah its likely to be it.

av changed them still nothink bud av notice my temp guade is sitting in the middle then goes past red then when a give it some revs it goes bk down to middle weird

going to change temp sensor to morrow and radiator flush

but if anyone eles has had the same problem and nos what it is give me a shout cheers john

Sounds like you need a new expansion cap. The pressure increases in the heating system and caused spikes.

yah bud al change the temp sensor first then see if nothink then al do the flush

You probably have an air lock after changing the thermostat, the filling procedure is;

µ 4. Fill the coolant expansion tank to the MAX mark (do not replace the cap).
5. Start and run the engine at 3000 revolutions per minute (RPM) for two minutes.
6. Fill the coolant expansion tank completely.
7. Install the coolant expansion tank cap.
8. Start and run the engine at 3000 RPM for another two minutes.
9. Switch the engine off.
