Help..2013 Mondeo Creaking When Turning Right

Featured Replies

Hi Folks, just joined to pick your brains.

First web forum I've been on since my Harley Davidson days so please bear with me.

2013 Mondeo, had this car for 8 months from 8000 miles to 28000 miles

Creaks from the front off side only while going round right hand corners.

Seems when the load is released from the off side spring it creaks especially if you start to accelerate through the corner, then creaks back when you straighten up out of the corner.

On rapid acceleration in a straight line it sometimes also creaks as suspension unloads/reloads.

Only seems to happen in dry weather, so I assume the water acts as a lubricant in preventing the creak so presumably the noise is coming from outside the car.

Creaks less if weight is in the boot, ie heavy bags or a full tank of fuel. (weight distribution....!!!)

Sounds to me like drivers side front spring twisting or moving under lateral or load.

Been into Ford twice and although they've heard the creak they can't find the problem. They won't strip it down until they think they know what it is. Had it to an independent garage for advice, they can't find the creak either, but they were not too fussed as it isn't their problem.

Back in at Ford on 22nd for another road test. Has anybody got any idea's or advice as to what I might suggest to the technicians, as they don't seem to know.

Many thanks.

Normally creaks like that are either top mounts or suspension related in general.

I get a knock noise going over bumps in the road which I am sure is the top mount, it started off initially sounding like a creak and developed, so I would ask them to look at this specifically when they get hold of it.

Thanks Jeebowhite..... I agree, suspension related, and particularly the spring in the mounting cups. Reckon if they removed the spring and gave it a good clean along with inside the mounting cups and add a little grease the creak will go away.

Only trouble seems that the Ford tech's at our dealership are reluctant to do it, probably because it's still under warranty and they are not convinced that is the problem and don't want to strip it down for fear of opening a can of worms.... or more likely a job at their cost.
