Dreaded Limp Mode Mondeo 2.0 Tdci

Featured Replies

Hi everyone

My 2.0 tdci Mondeo (2005) 120000 miles starts fine every time , goes like a train on the motorway as long as I gently ease the throttle but as soon as I drop down a gear and ask a bit more as if to overtake a lorry bang - LIMP mode!!! It's even worse when I have my caravan on the back (20 times LIMP mode from York to Romford) no fun. Stuck a code reader on it and it says low fuel pressure. Had new Injectors 14 months ago and car is regularly serviced, also removed , cleaned and checked EGR valve only last week.

Any advice as to what the problem could be would be greatly recieved.

Cheers all

Steve

Is it a Euro4 with electronic turbo actuator?

Low fuel pressure...its low due to clogged fuel filter restricting supply..... change the fuel filter.... job done....happy days

Cheers for the info Andy new filter going in this weekend just hope that cures it.

Thought it was gonna be new fuel pump or turbo or some other very expensive

part.

I expect when you are on a light throttle its fine but as you say when you hit the go pedal it does naff all and pops into limp mode.

This is exactly what my missus car did, and it threw up the low pressure fault code amongst others but it was simply the fuel filter in my case , hopefully it is in your case as its a cheap fix too. :D :D :driving: :driving:
