Ive never considered mitts before theres just something weird about cleaning a car using a glove, any good though? i guess it'll be harder to drop

I now use a mitt to wash my car and I think it might be down to old Greeny and his fanatical washing method(s).

He's right about this--I bought a Turtle wax one and it works very well indeed.

Go for it and fox the foxes!!!! ;)

Boom Boom! (Basil brush reference intended)

Dunno why a fox wants a sponge when he's already got a "brush" !

Perhaps he's given it the brush off?

or Meguiars Super Thick Microfibre wash mitt

http://www.meguiars.co.uk/cgi-bin/specwd.p...=X3002&tp=0

Both wash the car a treat without scratching and you can wash 'em too.

How'd you use the Super Thick Microfibre Wash Mitt? It doesnt seem to hold much water. I could buy a box of sponges for £10

First of all sponges are a no-no for washing your car as they introduce scratches into the paintwork as there is nowhere for the dirt to go when you're caressing your bodywork. With a wash mitt the dirt gets trapped in the fibres until you dunk your mitt again. With the microfibre wash mitt you can either stick your hand into it (glove puppet style) or just grab it. They both hold a huge amount of water and you can wash them time and time and time again without damaging them; something your can't do with a sponge as they start to break up. In terms of 10 sponges or 1 wash mitt - it's an easy choice ;) Buying cheap £1 sponges WILL scratch your car and won't last long - false economy. Rant over.

Agreed; sponges are a pain as they do scratch the car--ever since I started using the mitt no more curious unexplained scatches have appeared!

Mine's the glove puppet style and it feels heavy at first but you soon get used to it.....

I've got the Turtle Wax mit. It's great, bung it in the washing machine after I use it, had it well over a year now (even before Greeny mentioned them - how good am I?) ;)

I bought myself the Super Thick Microfibre Wash Mitt today. Peer pressure, you gotta love it! :)

Nah - peer pressure is saying you should get another one, one for the dirty areas such as round the arches and the very bottom of the car and one for the rest of the panels and roof.
