My in laws have just bought a fiesta zetec 2012, but she finds that the accelarator pedal is alot lower than the brake pedal. Can either be adjusted to achieve a similar height, the salesman says they are self adjusting and nothing can be done.

Some models of Fords have had adjustable pedals as an option on the spec list but other than that there's nothing built into the pedal box to allow the height of the pedals to be changed.

May have implications with the crash performance of the pedal box if you tried a home made mod instead.

Have a look where the cable attaches to the throttle body on the engine. Where the bracket holds the outer sheath of the cable there may be a clip you can move along to adjust the pedal height. Just pull the outer cable back out of the bracket a little, pull the securing clip out and move it along a couple of ridges at a time until you achieve the desired pedal height.

Beware though, if you adjust it too far it will start to affect (raise) the engine idle speed.
