Short Screech After Cambelt Change

Featured Replies

When I got my 1.6 petrol Fusion a few weeks back, I asked for a cambelt, tensioners and water pump change as part of the deal, as with 94K on the clock and no record of it being done seemed essential.

I have noticed a short intermittent screeching sound, literally blink and you'd miss it.

Its generally:

- changing up gear (particularly 2nd to 3rd)

- when changing gear going up hill

- under more heavy acceleration when changing gear (i.e. when I might not be quite as precise and smooth with the clutch)

I'm guessing something has been over tightened, but any advice appreciated so I can look informed when I go back and ask for it to be checked. Or will it settle down? (done about 400 miles since the change)

Thanks.

Certainly sounds a like clutch issue...

Yep, solution looks like precise and smooth gearchanges until it definitely needs a new clutch.
