Gem Unit

Featured Replies

I have a 2010 SMAX Titanium 2.0 Diesel and I recently had my Alarm Sounder Battery Backup changed but my wipers still came on full when I drove above 25mph. Took it straight back to the dealer and they diagnosed corrosion on the GEM unit caused by a water ingress. They cleaned out the GEM unit and plugged it all back together and everything is fine.

But I am worried about where the water came from. I have read about the TSB on the Aircon pipe but it does say that 2007 on models are not affected and I dont have a pool of water on the footwell.

Anybody have any ideas.....

Also can I wrap the GEM unit in kitchen paper or something else which might stop any future water ingress, will the GEM unit overheat of I do...

Ask this question on the S-max owners club forum. There are a number of members on there who will be familiar with the location of the GEM and the reasons for it's failure.
