Ranger 2.5 Turbo Problems

Featured Replies

hi,

I blew my head gasket last year and replaced the head (3 huge cracks), then 2 months later my turbo decided to go bang and after standing at the side of the road, with the ignition off and the keys in my hand, she decided to stop after about 15 minutes at 9000rpm. This fried my new head and broke all of my valve guides, so I put another new head on. Replaced the turbo, but it has never really worked...no guts and poor acceleration....so I've finally put another turbo on and still the same old sluggish drive. I am at a loss as to what the problem is. can anyone help? please.

I've cleaned out the intercooler and the pipes and replaced one of the solenoids on top of the intake manifold, as it was leaking. Could it be something to do with all of the solenoids or is there a chance that something has blown or failed that powers them. EGR valve seems fine as I replaced that after the turbo blew and I don't think any of the vacuum pipes are split or damaged. WHAT AM I MISSING???? HELP!!!

Runaway diesels are no fun, been there myself.

15 mins at Max rpm does the engine no good as you can imagine.

Was the bottom end stripped & checked before it was rebuilt?

I'm thinking pistons/rings/bores have taken a battering and are worn.

Does it blow the dipstick out or is there any excess engine breathing if you remove the oil filler cap with the engine running?

Have it compression tested.
