My First Speeding Fine :(

Speeding in the UK is classed as an endorsable offence which is £100 and 3 points and the points stay on your licence for three years.

Beat me to it :P

Should have the Dutch and Swiss systems, first time you get a small fine, 2nd and over the fines get bigger and bigger until you forfeit your license as you cannot afford them, much bigger deterrent imo.

These points systems are just to line the pockets of insurance companies, don't get why they can ask for 5 years declaration either, it's like basing your risk above the standards of the law, unsure how they can be allowed to be above it.

What really gets me is that whilst most insurers look at the past 5 years this is not made clear to the customer. Most people belive because a conviction is no longer on the licence they dont have to declare it.

The company I work fo use one specific insurer who do look at the past 5 years and if they are not made aware of the convictions they can decline to insure a driver for non - disclosure.

Technically speaking after 4 years they are not on the DVLA system, after my accident which was 3.5 years after conviction they called the DVLA on conference call and asked if I had any points, I did declare them anyway, but the DVLA told them I had a clean license, a few other people I know have had this, they seem to wipe them after 3 or 4 years.

Radar jammers won't work for anything that doesn't require a radar lock. Unless someone plans on using an RPG or something on your car, you're kinda wasting your money. As explained lasers and photo's will be unaffected because they have no use for radar. There's literally no way of stopping the photo one's unless you obscure the reg plate which is probably worse than the speeder, even if you covered the front with a bag and say it blew on while driving to get out of average speeders. Laser ones I guess you could deck your car out in SR71 paint which might cost a few hundred thousand and maybe have a chance? >_>

Radar guns would be affected, gatso, truvelo, specs etc are all unaffected as you will still be caught by the average, or photos and point to point average
