New member, first time ever putting topic on line.

I have a 10 plate S-Max vetec last April our Airbag warning light came on so took to Ford garage, checked out that if I can remember replaced ECU under seat, that was fine as under our warranty.

Last week light came back on again, we thought fine still under warranty and within guarantee, diagnostic check resulted in an Airbag fault, guess what this not covered under warranty cost £600, while at garage a further fault occurred within the steering column, luckily this was eventually covered by warranty.

I am now worried reading other topics of electrical faults happening whether to now get rid and buy some other car.

Have anyone else had such problems.

I had an airbag issue and I wouldn't panic. Get some electrical contact cleaner, strip the centre console to get at the airbag control module, disconnect, saturate the plug and reconnect, then, disconnect the battery, get at the affected airbag wiring and disconnect from the airbag, saturate and reconnect then put the battery back on

This is a REALLY common S-max issue. It is caused by the multiway plug under the driver's seat getting dirty.

Disconnect battery, take plug apart, clean with contact cleaner, wait an hour or so for it to dry, reassemble plug, reconnect battery.

Fault should be gone.
