Kuga Rattle

Featured Replies

I have the Ford Kuga Titanium X Sport 2.0 d Auto. 1963 plate and purchased in Sept 2014 with 3,600 miles on clock. The vehicle was listed on the FORD DIRECT SITE which only sell HIGH quality vehicles - well that's what they advertise anyway!. The vehicle is now showing 4,500 miles.

Since day one of my purchase there has been a 'Tinny Rattle' coming from the engine/transmission area. The rattle is only evident when the vehicle is subject to acceleration and becomes more pronounced at the point of gear change.

There is no rattle whilst the vehicle is stationary and the engine is being revved.

Been back to the garage 4 times now with the vehicle being worked on for a total of some 7 days.

Each time I collect the vehicle back I am told that the rattle is down to the injectors and that a software update has been performed and the problem should now be cured!!!! Don't think so ....

Every time I collect the vehicle the rattle is still there

The vehicle is booked back in next week (December)

I am further told that this rattle is the NORM and is as a result of strict government legislation on emission controls??

Furthermore, I am told the same rattle can be found on other Ford models and not just the Kuga?

If it is the Injectors then surely every time it rattles then excessive wear is being placed upon the component??

Prior to purchasing the vehicle I test drove other Kugas of the same spec but none of these showed these symptoms.

The dealership customer care didn't want to know

Ford Customer Care are currently overseeing the matter through a second ford dealer but my confidence in them (FCC) getting the matter sorted isn't that great I'm afraid

This matter also posted on Ford Kuga page of this site

UPDATE as from 10.12.14

Both dealerships - Evans Halshaw, Wolverhampton and T WALL at Pensnett, both West Midlands say they can find no fault with my "Rattling Engine". They say it is running normal yet both agree that the engine is rattling!!!!!!!. and always blame the injectors. They continue to say that this is normal and can be found on other Ford Models (strange but neither one has presented a comparable vehicle though so I can hear that one rattling?)

I have now taken the step of compiling a dossier of all the correspondence between me and the dealerships / Ford Customer Care (UK) and sent it to the Vice President of Global Ford Customer Services, Michigan USA with a request that they get involved - watch this space for results - if any!

Anyone with any ideas/comments opinions - anything I can take back to Ford would be a great help

I presume you mean 63 plate rather than 1963 when neither kuga nor cougar were around.

It should be under warranty so I would head to the dealers
