Annoyed With Trust Ford 😡

Featured Replies

I'm just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem as I have. Picked up my 13 plate Fiesta ST this morning as in was absolutely peeing it down I couldn't really check the car all that well. I did notice both sill plates where not lighting up properly (only half on each side). They tried to tell me that this was standard and it's nothing to worry about so I investigated and found that there wrong. So I questioned it and was told you'll get a call Monday but there's nothing much they can do. So I took the car home put on the drive and waited for the rain to pass the went for a good walk round and put the stuff from my old car in. Whilst checking I found my drivers side rear wheel had been curbed when I test drove it Thursday there was no damage to any wheels. I've now been told that as I didn't notice it at the dealer that I've done it and and there not accepting that it happened there. As u can imagine I'm very !Removed! at this as there just fobing me off now the car is sold and not willing to put the sill plates or wheel right.

Does anyone know if there's anything I can do about this?

The sills not lighting up properly is a common problem & should be fixed under warranty. As for the kerbed wheel, you cannot do much about it unfortunately because as far as they are concerned, you kerbed after you collected it - I noticed after I had my fez for a month that there is a small nick in the sidewall of one of the tyres (I have not kerbed it either) but not bothering to go back to the dealers for the very same reason. I picked my fez up when it was raining hard & only had a quick look around it before driving it away.

Take it back and tell them you wish to formally reject the car as it has faults they are not willing to rectify.

You are well within your rights to reject the vehicle if it isn't right.

You have rights in law which I can recite as I have for others and as its so new and you've only just collected it, you could reject the car but I suspect that's not what you want ideally. Any Ford dealer can deal with a repair under the warranty so you could try another dealer for the sill issue.

"I've now been told that as I didn't notice it at the dealer that I've done it and and there not accepting that it happened there."

I do like tearing apart an argument from sellers who are wrong as far as the law is concerned but smugly think they are right. Your rights to a car that is of satisfactory quality under S.14 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 include appearance and finish.

Any goods supplied to a buyer which do not conform to that standard within 6 months of delivery to the buyer, are taken not to have so conformed on the day of delivery. Unless the seller can prove that the goods did conform.

In simple terms, they have to prove the wheels were fine when sold to you, rather than you having to prove they were not. Worth checking your paperwork for any pre-delivery paperwork which 'proves' they checked such aspects before handing it over to you.

Thanks for the replys guys I think getting the sill plates done will b the easy part. Might have more trouble with the wheel though. Thanks for the info it gives me a little to go back at them with if they are still going to be funny about it. They rushed everything through as it was the end of the month not that it's an excuse to supply a car then not want to fix the issues.

No problem. Just ask them to prove the wheel was fine when delivered/handed over to you. If they say they do not have to prove it, you can quote S.14 as outlined above for appearance and finish in the first instance and then S.48A of the same Act for the bit about them needing to prove it.

Print out my post if it helps jog your memory before contacting them.
