Fixing A Deep Scratch - Sea Grey

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I've got a couple of scratches on my drivers side wheel arch. For now I used touch up paint to get me through the winter but in the spring I'm planning on respraying the arch myself.

Something like this:

Clean entire wing with T-cut

Do any spots with touch up

Then I'm not too sure what to do next.. Once I have sprayed the affected area, do I need to use lacquer on sea grey? I'm not sure. If so, should I lacquer the whole wing to achieve a nice finish?

Thanks in advance

David

I'm a detailer so can give you the advice I have given others. There are a couple of ways you can do it really spraying and non-spraying. If your going to spray it I wouldn't recommend t-cut as it contains ammonia which is very bad for paint. I would recommend cleaning with a proper panel wipe or thinners for that part. You will definitely need to laquar after spraying as this protects the paint underneath it I would never not laquar a painted panel. As for the non-spray methods I would need to see a picture to see if it can be done and which method to recommend.

Thanks Steven. I didn't know that about t cut so thanks for the tip. I used to spray my 1977 Escort when I had that, but its been gone 15 years so I am a bit out of the loop.

Proper panel wipe and lacquer it is then

Thanks again

David
